Over 150 years
of tradition

OUR TRADITION. OUR COMMITMENT.

THE PAST 150 YEARS: A LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT OVER GENERATIONS.

Firmensitz

Back in 1869, Johann Baptist Keller laid the foundations for our current brush production in the Black Forest. His idea, his passion, to manufacture brushes of the highest quality guides us even today, in the fifth generation of brushmakers.

The tradition of making brushes has become our own passion, which we translate into innovative and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques - and with complete vertical integration.

But we never forget who we are and where we come from. We feel incredibly proud to fulfil the heritage of those who have gone before us, driven by our own dedication and commitment. The combination of years of experience and contemporary design leads to the creation of brushes of a unique and special kind.

150 years of the Keller brush factory.

USING THE HIGHEST ECOLOGICAL STANDARDS.

100% RENEWABLES - 60% SELF-SUFFICIENT

How it began: in the first instance, the conveniently situated Wiese beck allowed us to run our machinery using directly generated hydroelectric power. Later, a turbine was added and we were able to produce our own electricity for general use. Since 2006, we have been using locally produced green electricity exclusively to cover our additional power requirements. In summer 2020, the roofs of the production and office buildings were fitted with a photovoltaic system which now covers around 60% of our own energy needs.

Our entire heating requirement (drying wood, heating) is met through renewables using the wood chips and shavings created during the production process.

Since autumn 2020, we have also pressed the wood chips and shavings we do not need for our own energy supply into pellets and marketed them as a second-use energy source. We have thus moved a step closer towards our goal of zero waste.

our environmental statement 2023/24

Respecting nature and the careful handling of resources have always been given the highest priority within our company.

Certification

The FSC® certification we received in 2008 with regard to the wood we use and the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), also known as EU Eco-Audit, which we introduced in 2010, guarantee that the highest standards are met. Together they constitute a combined system of environmental management and environmental audits for organisations wishing to lighten their carbon footprint.

Our quality assurance is inspired and guided by ISO DIN standards. Offering additional support to the knowledge of every single staff member, they guarantee a smooth production process.

AUDITED ECO-MANAGEMENT
The EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a core instrument of sustainable management. Its particular strengths lie in supporting companies in their efforts to continually improve their environmental performance, external communications, legal compliance and active involvement of employees. Validation by government-approved, independent environmental auditors additionally enhances the high level of credibility already enjoyed by EMAS.
